Town Hall (555) 555-0140

Assessor

The Assessor sets the value of every property in Maple Hollow for tax purposes and handles exemptions. Assessments are kept at 100% of market value.

The yearly calendar

  • March 1: taxable status date; exemption applications are due.
  • May 1: the tentative assessment roll is filed and available for review.
  • Fourth Tuesday in May: Grievance Day, when the Board of Assessment Review hears complaints.
  • July 1: the final assessment roll is filed.

Exemptions

Exemptions are available for seniors with limited income, veterans, people with disabilities and farmland. The STAR school tax credit is handled by New York State. Call the Assessor before March 1 to find out what you may qualify for.

If you disagree with your assessment

Talk with the Assessor first; many questions are settled informally. If not, file a grievance form with the Board of Assessment Review on or before Grievance Day.
